What is Confirmation?
Confirmation is when a young person takes their next step in “owning” their faith. Youth (6th grade & up) participate in a specialized program to understand the foundations of the Christian faith and The United Methodist Church, while also gaining a deeper understanding of their own relationship with God and their call to service in the world. Confirmation is preparation for full membership in The United Methodist Church by profession of faith or by baptism (for those who were not baptized as infants).
Confirmation Class
We are putting our plans in place for confirmation for youth! In the United Methodist Church, confirmation is the public profession of faith in Christ and membership in the local church. Confirmation is the act of “agreeing with that which our parents began at our birth and baptism”. It is also the conclusion of a period of preparation – a time when youth develop discipleship practices which strengthen their relationship with God, discern God’s calling to them, and build relationships with the church. This is the time in which our youth move from being dependent on the faith and practice of their parents and extended family and begin taking on young adult relationships with God based on their own faith and practice.
We have sent email invitations to youth we are aware of who have not yet been confirmed, and we want to make sure that no one is left out! If you have not received an email from Pastor Kim, please contact her to get more information, ask questions and to make sure your youth is part of the group!
Confirmation will begin in September, meeting one to two Wednesdays each month and will conclude with Confirmation Sunday on May 16, 2027. All youth in grades 6 or older are invited to participate!
