Membership
Membership in the Horne
Memorial UMW is open to any woman who wishes to dedicate herself to
the PURPOSE, regardless of whether she is a member of Horne Memorial
or any United Methodist Church.
Circles
The Horne Memorial UMW
is organized into subgroups called Circles. Currently there are 5
Circles at Horne Memorial:
- Deborah Circle meets at 8:30am on the 1st Wednesday of the month at the church;

- Hannah Circle meets at 7:00pm on the 3rd Tuesday of the month in the Church basement Classroom;

- Nell Holland Circle meets at 7:00pm on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 1pm in the church library;

- Sarah Circle meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:30pm at other locations;

- Stella Young Circle meets at 7:00pm on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at members’ homes;

Women wishing to
organize a new Circle are encouraged to do so! Circles can choose
their meeting schedule, such as monthly, quarterly or twice yearly,
and may select their own special focus, such as for a particular
mission, for fellowship, as a book club or as a service group.

established Circle.

is also served by an Officers Board comprised of members of all the
Circles.

Contributions
Some Circle and
church-wide UMW events and activities serve as a source of revenue
for the Horne UMW. These funds are used support mission activities in
the following ways:
- Donations to programs and missions activities of the
Women’s Division of the United Methodist Church through
Designated and Undesignated Giving
- Ongoing sponsorship of a child in Haiti
- Purchase of materials from the UMW Reading List for the Horne Memorial Library
- Support of Church, local and state/national/global mission needs
as determined by the membership of Horne Memorial UMW on a yearly
basis. In 2005 this included assistance for local families, donations
to MATCH (Mothers And Their CHildren prison
program), to church building preservation activities, to church
facility purchases, to Haiti mission needs and other recipients.
